What are the Benefits of ClearCorrect Aligners?

ClearCorrect is an alternative orthodontic treatment to traditional braces, offering much more flexibility and convenience during treatment. Read on in this blog from Elite Dentistry to find out why ClearCorrect is growing in popularity.

What Are ClearCorrect Aligners?

ClearCorrect is a clear removable aligner system that places gentle pressure on your teeth to gradually shift them. We take digital scans of your teeth to create a high-definition 3D model of your teeth.

With our digital mapping software, we can digitally plan how your teeth will move throughout treatment. Then, this information is sent to an outside lab that fabricates your ClearCorrect aligners based on your digital scans and the treatment plan.

After a few weeks, you’ll return to pick up your aligners and will wear them for 22 hours per day. As you continue to wear them, the aligners will place continuous pressure on your teeth to shift them into the proper alignment.

You will change to a new set of aligners every 2 or 3 weeks depending on your treatment plan. With each new aligner, your teeth are shifting further. The aligners will feel tightest when you first put them on and as they shift your teeth, the discomfort will subside. The average length of treatment is 12 to 18 months.

What are the Benefits of ClearCorrect Aligners?

ClearCorrect is so much more convenient, comfortable, and discreet than traditional braces. In the past, if you wanted to correct a misaligned bite or crooked teeth, you would need to have metal wire and brackets bonded to your teeth.

These would place significant force on your teeth, making your teeth feel constantly sore and painful and they would block a considerable amount of tooth surfaces, making it difficult to thoroughly remove food particles and plaque.

This is why patients would face many dietary restrictions. Not only would patients feel insecure during treatment with metal wires and brackets cemented to their teeth, but once the braces were removed, patients were often left with discoloration, uneven tooth shades, and oral health problems.

ClearCorrect eliminates all of these problems with its revolutionary clear aligner system. Patients enjoy superior aesthetics with transparent aligners that are virtually unnoticeable and won’t detract from your smile.

Because the aligners are made of thermoplastic, they exert more gentle, even pressure and don’t leave your teeth feeling as sore all of the time. Removing the aligners when you eat and clean your teeth ensures that you can eat whatever you want and can thoroughly remove food particles and bacteria from your mouth.

You won’t be left with an increased risk for cavities or discoloration because there are no metal brackets attached to your teeth. ClearCorrect can fix a range of orthodontic problems, including misaligned teeth, gaps, overcrowding, and bite problems.

The typical length of treatment is also significantly shorter than braces. Patients with minor orthodontic issues may only need to wear their aligners for 6 months.

How to Know If You’re a Good Candidate for ClearCorrect

If you have minor to moderate orthodontic problems and prefer not to straighten your teeth with braces, then ClearCorrect is likely a great option for you.

However, not everyone is a good candidate for ClearCorrect so you will need to come in for a consultation so we can assess the severity of your case and look for signs of oral health problems.

The success of the treatment is highly dependent on compliance with wearing the aligners for 22 hours per day which is why we do not recommend ClearCorrect for children under 14 years of age.

Children tend to have difficulty holding themselves accountable for wearing their aligners consistently, cleaning them, and caring for them. You also should not have any active oral health problems.

These will need to be treated before you can start ClearCorrect. This treatment is not suitable for patients with severely misaligned bites or overcrowding. You may also not be a candidate if you have dental implants or bridges. If you have a missing tooth, you may need to undergo orthodontic treatment before replacing these teeth.
