What Are ClearCorrect Aligners?

ClearCorrect aligners are similar to other methods of clear aligner therapy like Invisalign. They use clear, plastic aligners to correct the position of your teeth and improve your bite.

These aligners look similar to a retainer, or a night guard used for teeth grinding. They are invisible when worn, and they gently place pressure on your teeth to move them toward the proper position in your mouth.

By switching through multiple sets of aligners under the supervision of a dentist like Dr. Mark Ashy, you will be able to completely change your smile, and correct orthodontic issues like crooked, misaligned, and uneven teeth.

How Does ClearCorrect Work?

To begin the process, you’ll come and see Dr. Ashy for a quick checkup. He will examine your mouth and determine whether or not ClearCorrect is right for you. If you’re approved, he will take impressions and images of your teeth and begin developing a treatment plan right away.

You will come back in a few weeks to get your first several sets of ClearCorrect aligners. Dr. Ashy will provide you with instructions on how to wear them. Each set usually must be worn for 2 weeks for at least 20 hours per day.

Then, every 4-6 weeks, you will come to our office for a quick oral exam, and to get your next sets of aligners. This same basic process will be repeated until your treatment has been completed.

How Long Does It Take To See Results?

Just like any other type of orthodontic treatment, you won’t see results right away. At first, it will take time for your teeth to move, and you may not notice significant changes or improvements in your teeth. Each aligner can usually move your tooth about .33 millimeters. For comparison, that’s only the thickness of a few strands of hair.

Can I Wear ClearCorrect While I Eat & Drink?

No. Wearing ClearCorrect while you eat or drink is a bad idea. Chewing while wearing your aligners can warp and destroy them, and drinking liquids (except for plain tap or bottled water) may stain them and contribute to a higher risk of tooth decay. Hot liquids like coffee or tea could also warp the aligners, since they’re sensitive to heat.

So when it’s time to eat or drink, just pop out your ClearCorrect aligners, rinse them off, and put them in their carrying case. Then, when you’re done with your meal or beverage, brush or rinse your mouth and put your aligners back in place.
