Dr. Ashy of Elite Dentistry is an experienced family dentist with years of experience treating children of all ages. From toddlers to teenagers, we offer every pediatric patient the professional, kind, and informative dental care they need to maintain a healthy smile. We go above and beyond to make your child feel at home in our care and introduce every toddler to the world of dentistry to energy and enthusiasm.

6-Month Cleanings & Exams

6-month dental cleanings and exams are a critical part of preventive care. According to the American Dental Association, your child should first visit the dentist when they turn 1 year old, or when their first tooth erupts. By seeing our team regularly from a young age, you can ensure that your child’s mouth is healthy and we can help you encourage better oral hygiene habits.

If your child is between 1-2 years old and only has a few of their baby teeth, Dr. Ashy will simply examine each tooth and clean your child’s teeth and gums, answering any questions you may have about your child’s oral health along the way.

If your child is about 3 years old or has the majority of their baby teeth, they will get a comprehensive cleaning and oral exam, just like an adult would. One of our hygienists will remove plaque and tartar from their teeth, buff and polish their teeth, and floss to remove any remaining debris. Then, Dr. Ashy will perform an oral exam and check your child’s teeth and gums for signs of cavities and other oral health issues. X-rays may also be recommended if Dr. Ashy believes they are necessary, and if you approve.

Amenities To Keep Your Children Comfortable

Our office is designed to be child-friendly. We offer comforting amenities and play movies in each of our operating rooms to help your child enjoy their favorite films while they have their teeth cleaned, get a filling, or undergo any other treatment.

We also encourage you to stay in the room with your child, if you would like. We know that dentistry can feel intimidating for kids, and your presence will help them feel safe and comfortable throughout their entire treatment.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation For Kids

If your child is nervous about an upcoming procedure, laughing gas is a great way to help them feel more calm and comfortable. This sedative is delivered through a nose mask during your child’s procedure. They’ll just breathe deeply, and inhale through their nose when Dr. Ashy instructs them to do so.

The effects of laughing gas are quite mild, too. Your child may feel a bit groggy or disconnected from what’s happening around them, but they will be fully conscious. When combined with numbing, this treatment ensures that your child won’t feel any discomfort during their procedure.
